If the valence electrons were removed, what would be the ion charge of the element? Al

OpenStudy (photon336):

Depends on how many you remove. Removal of one electron (1) Al+ Removal of two electrons (2) Al++ Removal of three electrons (3) Al+++ Removal of all valence electrons would result in an electron configuration similar to that of Neon. 1s^2 2s^2 2p^6 3s^2 3p^1 1s^2 2s^2 2p^6 3s^2 one electron 1s^2 2s^2 2p^6 3s^1 two electrons 1s^2 2s^2 2p^6 there electrons The last configuration is that of a noble gas hence most stable.
