A 6kg man accelerates upward at 2m/s^2, what is his weight.
60kg*
the normal force on a weighing machine would be reduced by 60 x 2 = 120N his normal weight would be 60 x g = 60 x 10 = 600N now reduced by 120 N becomes 600-120 = 480N
4.8 kg ( g is approximated to 10 m/S^2
if the normal force was reduced wouldnt it be 600+120 and 600-120 if the its accelerating downwards because the force of gravity is being reduced
it would be 600 + 120 in the case of pseudo force which would be considered if and only if the weighing machine would accelerate the man (i mean that if the man would be standing on the weighing machine and the weighing machine would act as a lift for the man). The weighing machine is imaginary i.e. we are just trying to find the normal force that the man would exert if the weighing machine and the man were at rest. I hope you understand.
