HELP MEDAL WILL BE AWARDED A solution is made by dissolving 2.5 moles of sodium chloride (NaCl) in 198 grams of water. If the molal boiling point constant for water (Kb) is 0.51 °C/m, what would be the boiling point of this solution? Show all of the work needed to solve this problem.

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

1. convert grams of water to kilograms 2. divide moles of NaCl by kilograms of water to find molality 3. determine the van't Hoff factor (i) of NaCl (which is 2, in this case, since NaCl dissociates into Na+ and Cl-) 4. boiling point elevation = (kb)*i*molality 5. add the boiling point elevation to the original boiling point of water (100 degrees Celcius)
