A square pyramid has side lengths of 10 units and a height of 7.6 units. The slant height of each lateral face is 9.1 units. What is the surface area of the pyramid to the nearest unit?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

. 282 units^2 b. 182 units^2 c. 82 units^2 d. 382 units^2

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

To do this you find the area of the triangles using A=SL/2 So A=(10)(9.1)/2=? The area of the square is A=(10)(10)=? When you add the surface area together you need to take into account there are 4 of the sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The formula for square pyramid \[SA = a^2 +2a \sqrt{\frac{ a^2 }{ 4 } + h^2}\] Where a is base edge and h is height

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Which answer do you think it is @11.seventeen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah i see, it only gives slant hieight and etc. Okay, so use @taramgrant0543664 's formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait lol it is still possible to use my formula.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

282?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well if you round yes. it is around 281.95

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Yes 282 would be your answer!

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx):
