Differentiate corrosion, alloying, compound formation with regards to material chemical properties?

Corrosion is what we call the rusting or the formation of iron oxide. It is the deposition of thin layer of metal oxide on a metal itself. This takes place due to the oxidation of the metal atoms. And we also get bimetal corrosion where an additional corrosion occurs when dissimilar metals are in contact in the presence of an electrolyte. To prevent corrosion we use cathodic protection where the the particular metal we want to protect is connected to another metal which is at a higher position in electrochemical series. So the metal we had will act as a cathode and the metal which is at a higher position will get corroded.

And what we call as dealloying is the selective corrosion of one or more components of a solid solution of alloy. I hope you understood what I said

Okai so lets go through it. It's like this when you go high up in the electrochemical series the ability to get oxidized increases right? and also when going down the series the ability to get reduce increases. So as I said before corrosion is the oxidation of the metal atoms. So it is due to their chemical properties (reducing and oxidizing ability)
