What does the conductivity measurement reveal about an acid or a base? A. The type of ion in the acid or base B. The initial quantity of the acid or base C. The true identity of the solution D. Whether the acid or base is weak or strong

OpenStudy (jfraser):

conductivity tells you whether or not an aqueous substance contains ions, right?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

usually it's a set of electrodes connected to some kind of lightbulb

OpenStudy (photon336):

Conductivity = wether there's ions or not. if an acid is strong it will dissociate completely to form H+ ions thus increasing conductivity. same for a base of it's strong it will produce more ions, probably will be more conductive. I think it's D

OpenStudy (rushwr):

My opinion is D Because solution's ability to conduct electricity is dependent on the concentration of ions it contains. A strong acid has more ions than a weak one, and so it's solution will be a better electrical conductor than a weak acid. The same goes for strong/weak bases.
