OpenStudy (johnkim2330):

HELPP What is the oxidation number of Chlorine in NaClO4?

OpenStudy (photon336):

To find the oxidation. States do the the following: Count the atoms in the molecule Na = 1 Cl = 1 O = 4 Now Oxygen has oxidation state of -2 and there's four atoms so that's -8 Sodium has an oxidation state of =1 1+-8 = -7 Now we know that the oxidation states must sum up to be zero. So -7+7 = 0 So chlorine must have I guess 7

OpenStudy (johnkim2330):

@photon336 Which of the following reactions is not an example of an oxidation-reduction reaction? H2 + F2 yields 2HF Fe + CuSO4 yields FeSO4 + Cu CuSO4 + 2NaOH yields Cu(OH)2 + Na2SO4 Cl2 + ZnI2 yields ZnCl2 + I2 what about this

OpenStudy (johnkim2330):

i think its the 3rd one but im not sure @photon336

OpenStudy (photon336):

Not sure I think it's the second one
