hmm well. if you're using the "law of sines', that may not give you that much, since you only have one angle and its side is missing even if you were to find the side "b", how are you meant to get the area?

anyhow, in this case what I'd use is the law of cosines, and then heron's formula but you haven't covered either, thus, you may want to do that firstly check your material for both, otherwise, I'd say the exercise doesn't apply to you

1/2 base * height, to get the area of a triangle, only applies to right-triangles this one doesn't come across to me to be one

well.. .I take that back 1/2 base * height does apply to all triangles BUT we dunno the triangles altitude, or height in this case, just its base

if it were a right-triangle, it'd simple to just grab either side and use it as altitude but angle B is 87 degrees, not 90

I myself, don't see how the law of sines alone would do it in this one I'd use the law of cosines to find "b", and use that in Heron's formula to get the area

well,, surely it has studying material, so you see, the issue is, if the material hasn't been covered, there's no sense in giving the exercise I've heard some folks say that, online classes and such, I don't see how that exempts them from studying now, it may be that the site is giving you something that hasn't been covered but if you haven't covered something, there's no sense in giving you the exercise
