Yes those are your reactants. We know that this makes sense because the oxidation state of Mg is +2 and oxygen is -2 so it would be MgO and Na has an oxidation state of +1 and Cl has an oxidation state of -1 so NaCl is correct

My Answer: MgO + NaCl (Reactant)= MgCl2 + Na2O (Product) Balancing: MgO + 2 NaCl = MgCl2 + Na2O The type of chemical reaction, it's a Double Displacement reaction Because you part of of one reactant is replaced by part of another reactant.

2NaOH + MgCl2 -> Mg(OH)2(s) + 2NaCl It would be a double replacement reaction and I doubt if it occurs in real life. Everything but the resulting solid precipitate Mg(OH)2 is ions in solution.
