@Astrophysics please help
@geny55, how come you didn't answer my question?
i figured it out, thanks for the help :)
@Astrophysics please help
What do you need help with?
im sorry i was asking @Astrophysics
Lol, well they tell us the scale is 1:20 right? So any idea what that means
If its 1:20 then you do 4 x 5 which equals 20
Ok well the 4 x 5 = 20 is the area, so we have 20 inches^2 now we are given that the scale is 1:20, which tells us the figure is only 1/20 size of the original. So it's probably easier if you do \[4 \times 20\] and \[5 \times 20 \] first then convert it to inches.
convert it to feet* OR you can find area then convert to square feet, doesn't matter
ok can you do the work in steps so that i understand it better?
Well I mean we are given that the dimensions are 4 by 5 inches, and the proportion is 1/20, we want its original size but in square feet, so notice there's two things to this problem. So we can start off by multiplying 4 and 5 by 20 to get the original scale right? \[4 \times 20 = 80~~~~\text{and}~~~5 \times 20 = 100 \] but note these dimensions are still in inches, you can now convert it to feet then find the area which is just \[A = lw\] or you can find area first and convert it to square feet. I think I'll leave the rest to you.
whats step 1, lets start with that
@geny55, remember the purpose of Open Study is to give help, not answers. Asking for steps is equivalent to asking for answers.
I think there is enough information here already, you should try to figure it out on your own now :), good luck.
