!!!HELP QUICKLY PLEASE!!! If two different temperatures of water are mixed together, which of the following would occur? The cold water would float on top of the hot water. The hot water would float on the cold water. The two temperatures of water would instantly mix and become one temperature. There would be no effect when the water was mixed.
@nincompoop can you help please? >.<
Depends what they mean by "instantly". Warm water is less dense than cool, so it would techincally rise above and "float" on top of the cold. However, given enough time, since both solutions are just water, they would mix and form a water solution of one temperature.
It depends of the temperature of water. When temperature is 4°C, water is heavier because it reaches its maximum density and sinks....cold water sinks and hot water float...
Hot water is less dense and will float on room-temperature water so i guess it will be a
You need to understand that heat travels from hot to cold, so the water with the higher temperature, heat flows from there to the liquid with the lower temperature.
