Quick Chemistry question, please show work :) 3. If 25.0 mL of a 4.525 M solution of HCl was poured into 112.0 mL of distilled water, the concentration of the resulting solution is _________ M.
Do you know what molarity is?
@Photon336 What is the answer u get for this !
Concentration 1*Volume 1 = Concentration 2*Volume 2 Volume 1 = 25.0mL Concentration 1 = 4.525M Volume 1 = 112.0 mL + 25.0mL Concentration 2 = ? use the formula above to solve for concentration 2 Note that you are diluting the solute so your concentration should go down so: Concentration 1 > Concentration 2
\[N _{a}V _{a} = N _{b}V _{b}\]
\[\frac{ N _{a} V _{a} }{ V _{b} } = N _{b}\] re arrange and solve for Nb your final concentration: @agree with australopithecus \[HCl _{aq} + H _{2}O _{l} --> H3O ^{+}(aq) +Cl ^{-} \] \[K _{a} HCL >>> 1 \] so virtually no acid left.
The pKa of HCl is -3 so it will dissociate 100%
Dissociation doesn't matter though in this question
