three electrons would be transferred from aluminum, one to each of the Fluorine atoms. remember fluorine is highly electronegative, the most electronegative element, so it's going to want those electrons to satisfy it's octet. an ionic bond occurs between a metal and non metal, here we have our metal Aluminum and our non metal fluorine. ionic bond means a transfer of electrons, so i guess 3 electrons were transferred in total. technically an ionic bond is an electrostatic attraction.
