A 4kg ball is dropped from a heught of 15 m from the floor, what is the kinetic energy when it strikes the floor? Use conservation of energy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What kind of energy do you think the ball has before it's dropped?

OpenStudy (sohailiftikhar):

first find P.E throw mgh

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

mgh=P.E

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

4*9.8*15

OpenStudy (sohailiftikhar):

(4)(15)(10)=600 take g=10m/s^2

OpenStudy (sohailiftikhar):

for accurate value g=9.8m/s^2 (4)(15)9.8=closer to 600m/s

OpenStudy (sohailiftikhar):

as total energy remains conserved so at max height all energy equal to P.E and K.E=0 and at closer to ground all energy is K.E and P.E=0 but total energy remain same so your .K.E will also be (4)15)(9.8)=?

588 J ?

OpenStudy (sohailiftikhar):

yes

thank you :)
