The elements listed at the far left side of the periodic table are _____. metals nonmetals transition metals metalloids i have no idea @taramgrant0543664

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Non-metals are the gases which are found on the right side of the table Transition metals are what you see in the middle of the table Metalloids are what you find between the transition metals and the non metals so they are more on the right side Metals are found on the left side due to their properties

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks this is a science pretest that has 54 questions some i know some i don't

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im on question 17 uhhhhhh i have to go to work in an hour too

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Well I can definitely check it over for you, and I have to go soon too but we can get through as many as we can

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

should i just post the questions in here?

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Ya you can or you can make new posts doesn't matter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A solution has a uniform composition and is able to be separated by physical means. has a heterogeneous composition and is able to be separated by physical means. has a heterogeneous composition and is able to be separated by chemical means. has a uniform composition and is able to be separated by chemical means.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b?

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

A solution - you can evaporate the solvent and obtain the soluted substance. A heterogenous mixture is obviously not uniform, so it's not a possible answer. An element is the simplest building block of substances that carries chemical properties. You can only convert elements through nuclear reactions. A compound is made of atoms bound together through chemical bonds. Physical methods can't break it apart. So I would go with a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank ya

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the relationship between a compound and the elements it is made from? The compound takes on a mixture of properties from the elements. The compound takes on the properties of the stronger element. The compound may have properties that are very different from those of the elements. The compound may have the properties of the most abundant element in the compound.

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Sorry it would definitely be C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the name of the scientist who first developed the periodic table? Bohr Dalton Mendeleev Chadwick ummmm i know its not dalton

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Nope that would be mendeleev

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

question 31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following is not a property of a metal? Luster Malleability Permeability Ductility

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

They are not permeable. Metals are sonorous, ductile: Can be stretched into wires, Malleable: can alter shape easily as the atoms have only delocalised electrons, allowing for layers to slide over each other. As for luster, only most refined metals are lustrous. Most metals exist in compounds, with only unreactive ones like gold and platinum existing as an element.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks i would have gotin that wrong

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Well now you know lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As you move from left to right on the periodic table, the atomic number _____. increases decreases stays the same changes randomly a?

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Yes it would be A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

question 40 Thomson proposed that the atom is mostly solid space. the electrons are spread through a solid, positive nucleus. the electrons orbit around the nucleus. atoms are the smallest particle.

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Thomas proposed that 'Plum Pudding Model' for the electrons configured around the atom, showing that the electrons are spread through a solid, positive nucleus.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that's interesting

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not being sarcastic that's actually pretty cool

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Each different model is interesting and how when the model changes what they figured out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A substance that has a uniform composition and is able to be separated by physical means is a(n) ____. solution heterogeneous mixture element compound

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

It would be a solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay almost done question 46

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Let's do it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i knew that one so 47

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ionic bonding involves atoms sharing electrons. the metal atom losing electrons to the nonmetal atom. two nonmetal atoms transferring electrons. two metals transferring electrons.

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

In ionic bonding the metal gives up electrons and the nonmetal takes electrons so B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When a nonmetal bonds with a nonmetal, they form a(n) ____. solution ionic compound covalent compound element

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Well we just talked about ionic bonds so we know it's not that, when non metals bond it's two elements making something so they don't make a new element They are referred to as a colvalent compound

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following is not an example of an extensive physical property? Mass Length Size Density density?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

49

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Yes it would be density

OpenStudy (anonymous):

last question Bohr's model of the atom most resembles plum pudding. the solar system. a basketball. snow.

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Thompson was plum pudding model, Bohrs looked like the solar system

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you ill tell you what i got one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

81%

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

That's pretty good still

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it is thank you so much i would have flunked it on my own

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

It's no problem what so ever!

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):
