Which of these reactions are endothermic reactions? a. SOCl2(l) + H2O(l) → SO2(g) + 2 HCl(g) ΔH = +10.3 kJ b. PCl3(l) + 1/2 O2(g) → POCl3(l) ΔH = -325.7 kJ c. P(s) + 3/2 Cl2(g) → PCl3(l) ΔH = -306.7 kJ d. 2 Cl2(g) + 2 H2O(l) → 4 HCl(g) + O2(g) ΔH = +202.6 kJ
what is mean of endothermic reactions?
Endothermic Reactions A system of reactants that absorbs heat from the surroundings in an endothermic reaction has a positive ΔH
@anitasonia98 can you help me with this i dont understand it at all
@nechirwan okay i get the positive thing but that would still leave A and D as options for the answer
so the other are exothermic reaction !!
Sure! Endothermic reactions have a positive delta H, since they draw in heat for the reaction to take place. Exothermic have a negative delta H, since they release heat. So you've narrowed down your choices to two answers. I think it's a matter of googling these two reactions :3 I would say D, but I'm not sure.
@anitasonia98 thank you! :)
exothermic reaction releases heat meaning it associate its self with a negative sign and endothermic reaction needs energy and associates itself with + sign
