1. I'm assuming the first is talking about Carbon-14. 6 is the atomic number or the number of protons carbon has. To get the number of neutrons, you do: 14 (the mass) - 6 The resulting number is the number of neutrons. 2. Again, Google might help with this. I'll give you a hint here: it's like a subtraction problem. What particle takes off 4 from the atomic mass and 2 protons? (I'll give you even more of an hint; it's one of the first two choices).
