A 0.100-kilogram apple hangs in a tree 1.50 meters above the ground. Ignoring frictional effects, the total mechanical energy of the apple is _____.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Total Mechanical energy of a system = Total Kinetic Energy + Total potential Energy. \(\bullet\) Since the apple is hanging (i.e. it's stationary), its K.E will be 0. \(\bullet\) P.E of the apple will be given by the equation `mgh`, where m is the mass of apple, g is the acceleration due to gravitation and h is the height of the apple from the ground. \(\sf \boxed{Total~M.E = 0 + mgh}\) Substitute the given values in above equation and calculate the total
