Tina invited 60 people to her graduation party 42 of the people she invited said they would attend. What percent of the people said they would attend
70 percent of them
said that they would attend.
% of people who attend the party= (number of people who come to the party)/(total number of people invited) x 100
or it could be 42/60= percentage
no that would be fraction of people who attended the party
@haleyright can u put the values in that formula to get the answer :)
no if you divide 42 by 60 you get 0.7 which means 70 percent of them will come
no qwerty i suck at math :P sorry im already workingas it is physical science
yes u got 0.7 but then u don't say directly that 70% people attended the party u multiply 0.7 by 100 nd then u say that so basically 42/60 gives us the fraction of people who attended the party and multiplying it by 100 gives us the %
well yah
ok @haleyright do it like this- If i gave u 100 chocolates nd u ate 50 then what % of chocolates did u eat? :)
50
ok nd if u ate 20 chocolates out of those 100 then what % did u eat?
srry but wat is your point in this
i'll tell but u answer first telling my point at this point of time will not make any sense :)
ok um, 20?
can u tell me how did u get that :)
well since u gave me 100 cookies and i ate 50 then there would be 50 left and since i had 100 cookies and i ate 20 its the same thing. will u tell me ure point now :D
ok tell if u had 10cookies and u ate 3 then how many cookies wuld u eat if u had 20?
wats the point?
the answer is 70% to your question Haley
i dont have a question
qwerty?
alll of the cook stuff got nothing to do with your problem that you gave
oh it moonlight
sorry
the point is - u called 60 people and 42 came but here the situation is not like that chocolate one so we'll make it like that so we have- 60ppl--------->42came 1ppl---------->42/60 would come multiply both sides by 100 100ppl-------->42/60 x 100wuld come 100ppl--------->70wuld come so now we calculated the number of ppl who wuld come if 100ppl were invited by using ratio nd proportion things :) so now we have the same situation as we had in the chocolate case :D did u get it?
you dont have to multiple by 100
moonlight is the one who asked a question about a math problem so y am i learning right now and not her. im confused and i hate math
because 0.7/1 is 70%
Haley you have any questions
no
okay
@haleyright do u want a direct formula to do this kinda questions ?
no, i just dont want to doo math, can we just continue tlkin pleeeease qwerty :P
no, its so easy to convert a decimal into a percentage
im not asking "u" yinkim thank you
lol @haleyright i thought that this is ur question XD hahahahah lol
Proportion: 42/60 = x/100
