PLEASE HELP!! MEDAL!! 28.5g of iron shot is added to a graduated cylinder containing 45.50 mL of water. The water level rises to the 49.10 mL mark. From this information, calculate the density or iron.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

density = mass divided by volume right ? use that ! For the volume we have to get the volume of iron okai ?

OpenStudy (clamin):

how do i do it if i have two volume?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

The volume of water contained is given. And the final volume is given too right? So what do we get if we subtract the volume of water from the final volume ?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

The difference between the water volume and the final volume is caused by the addition of iron right? So that difference would be the volume of iron ! Hope you got it !

OpenStudy (clamin):

3.6 is the difference

OpenStudy (clamin):

@Rushwr

OpenStudy (rushwr):

yep so substitute the values now ! U know the mass and the volume !
