What did I do wrong in this problem!? Help! ill give medals
drummer chicks unite!!! :D
sorry, that was random
woah!
well what's the problem list the equation so we can help you
i took a picture of all my work- its i the attachment above ^
i know u guys are here do something already
looking backwards it seems like you have in that thinking that -4(2) = -24
The quadradic formula? is that what your doing
this is the problem: \[\frac{ x + \frac{ 5 }{ x } }{ 1+\frac{ 6 }{ x } }=4x\]
\[\frac{-24 \pm 2 \sqrt{159}}{6}= \frac{\frac{-24}{2} \pm \frac{2 \sqrt{159}}{2}}{\frac{6}{2}} \\ \\ =\frac{-12 \pm \sqrt{159}}{3}\]
Try mathway
other than that your work looks great just end part needs fixing
im confused :(
in the end when you divided -24 by 2 you wrote -4 this is not true
why cant i simplify the numerator and denominator like afraction?
\[\frac{-24 \pm 2 \sqrt{159}}{6} \\ \text{ you can separate the fraction } \\ \\ \frac{-24}{6} \pm \frac{2 \sqrt{159}}{6} \\ -4 \pm \frac{\sqrt{159}}{3}\]
maybe that is what you meant to do
Look at your last step, the solution. Now look one step up.
-24 and 6 simplify to -12 and 3, not -4 and 3
ahhh there we go, that makes more sense to me
You made a small mistake in the very last step.
i did this same thing last time lol thanks!!
\(\dfrac{-24 \pm 2\sqrt{159} }{6} = \dfrac{\cancel 2 (-12 \pm \sqrt{159})}{\cancel 2(3)}\)
just curious so this didn't make any sense: \[\frac{-24 \pm 2 \sqrt{159}}{6}= \frac{\frac{-24}{2} \pm \frac{2 \sqrt{159}}{2}}{\frac{6}{2}} \\ \\ =\frac{-12 \pm \sqrt{159}}{3}\] ?
@freckles You figured it out way back.
i kinda understand that way that you wrote, the other way was easier lol
ok well as long as you get it
