The freezing of water at 0⁰C can be represented as follows: H2O (l) ↔ H2O(s) The density of liquid water is 1.00 g/cm3. The density of ice is 0.92 g/cm3. In 3 – 4 sentences explain why applying pressure causes ice to melt. Help please

Start by answering the question: Why is liquid water more dense than ice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hydrogen bonds in water give to ice an open exagonal structure, that's why ice has a lower density than water..if u apply pressure to ice, some molecules will fall in some open spaces in the structure and this will break all the structure like a chain reaction.
