Which element is oxidized in the following reaction: CuO(s) + H2 (g) Cu(s) + H2O (l) kind of tricky

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this what I had got so far CuO + H2 --> Cu + H20 We need to figure out the charges on each of the elements (+2)(-2)..(0) -->(0)..(+1)(-2) Cu goes from a charge of +2 to 0 H goes from a charge of 0 to +1 One is gaining electrons and therefore reduced One is losing electrons therefore oxidized

that the part I need help on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CuO + H2 -->Cu + H20 right
