Also, if the sign is equal to or larger/smaller than (the sign with the dash underneath), the line would be solid instead of of dotted.

So only if the inequality was the opposite would it be on the bottom? Wether or not the numbers are negative or positive?

It depends. So if the sign is pointing right, like >, the shaded area would be the left. I just look at where the "mouth" of the sign is pointing, and shade that part.

Also, the negative and positive numbers don't matter as much if the line is already there. But if you go 1 step behind, where you still have to isolate y. During that step, if you divide a negative number on both sides, then you will have to flip the sign.

Opposite. Wherever the wider side opens, that side of the graph is shaded.
