witch of the following CANNOT be considered a single phase? a) a pure solid b) a pure liquid c) a homogeneous mixture d)a heterogeneous mixture

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

@sof12345678910 A pure solid/liquid is definitely a single phase; I think this is because how the molecules are arranged definitely.

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

however, heterogeneous mixtures involve some sort of a combination of one or more phases. For instance, consider two liquids that are mixed together is not the same as a solid and liquid being mixed or even a gas and a solid being mixed.

OpenStudy (greatlife44):

I'm going to assume that the most reasonable answer is a heterogeneous mixture.
