A solution tested in the laboratory shows pH 14. Which of the following statements best describes this solution? It is a highly acidic solution with a high hydrogen ion concentration. It is a highly basic solution with a low hydrogen ion concentration. It is a highly basic solution with a high hydrogen ion concentration.
a
pH of 14 implies that it's highly basic and there are virtually no hydrogen ions in that solution.
@Rushwr thoughts?
I agree ! @Photon336
Should I give you deeper concept.............????
thank you guys
When pH increases the H+ concentration decreases !
If you want to understand why pH + pOH = 14 pH means negative log though so the pH is very small meaning that theres virtually no H+
\[pH = =\log_{10} [H ^{+}]\]
-log*
Well already given ;) by #Rushwr
p means negative log
Usually pH ranges are: From 1 to around 6 it is acidic And when pH = 7 it is considered as neutral When pH is above 7 it is considered as basic.
