A man takes a photo of a bridge on holiday. The arch of the bridge in her photograph can be modelled by the equation y = −0.11x 2 + 1.26x + 1.20, where x is the horizontal distance of the inner edge of the bridge from the centre line of the photo, and y is the vertical distance from the bottom of the photo (both measured in cm). (i) Find the y-intercept of the parabola y = −0.11x^2 + 1.26x + 1.20. (ii) (1) Find the coordinates of the point where the line x = 9 meets the parabola.

Nnesha (nnesha):

y-intercept is a point when line line intersect y-axis when x =0 so to find y-intercept substitute x for 0

Nnesha (nnesha):

y= -.11x isn't a parabola

Nnesha (nnesha):

oh nvm y = −0.11x^2 + 1.26x + 1.20. this is your equation so replace all x's with 0

Nnesha (nnesha):

question ???? understood? or not ? ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea h so y =1.2

what i dont get is the second part
