In a chlorine atom it has 7 electrons, 7 protons and 7 neutrons. When it accepts one electron then the constituents become 6 electrons , 7 protons and 7 neutrons. Since there's an addition of one electron the atomic radius become big. Therefore Cl^-1 ion has a larger radius than the chlorine atom.
