How many six element subsets contain four evens and two odds? A={1,2,3,4,5,7,8,10,11,14,17,18} I've already calculated there are 924 6 element subsets.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

there are 6 even numbers and 6 odd ones number of possible combinations of 4 from 6 = 6C4 and of 2 from 6 = 6C2 so total number = 6C2 * 6C4

OpenStudy (welshfella):

924 is correct for the total of 6 element subsets. The reason i asked was because i assumed there were 18 elements in the set - until i counted them!!!

Perhaps can you also explain to me the logic they used to answer this? "How many odd subsets are in A" From looking around the reasoning is that you have 2 choices to include a number or not to and you have 6 odd numbers so the answer is 2^6 or 64. My question is I am a bit confused on how the sentence converts into the power. Aka how "You have 2 choices 6 numbers) represents 2^6 would that mean that the total number of subsets for A would be 2^12 ?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

i 'm confused by that to be honest and i have to go right now.

Alright no problem
