A buffer solution contains 0.50M acetic and0.50M sodium acetate, calculate the pH of HC2H3O2 Ka=1.8×10*-10

OpenStudy (abhisar):

\(\sf pH = pK_a + log\frac{[Salt]}{[Acid]}\)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

\(\sf pK_a = -log(K_a)\)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

[Salt] = 0.5M [Acid] = 0.5M

OpenStudy (abhisar):

This will give the pH of buffer solution. I am not sure if you are asking for the pH of whole buffer solution or simply acetic acid.
