Can anyone help me please with a program for Organic Chemistry?

Can you maybe try to help me find information on the internet, refer me to a page that can tell me more about reactions and how you truly know what attacks what... In class they cover 4 step reactions of various types but in my homework the reactions go for 8-10 steps. I just need some help really trying to grasp the general concept I believe? I'm not sure what I don't know. You get me? I'm lacking knowledge that will help me in the problems and I'm not sure what that knowledge is since it's not really covered in class.

Yeah totally I know exactly what you're talking about, you want to get better and understanding the mechanisms and how to figure out problems rather than just trying to mass memorize a ton of reactions. The best way to go is used curved arrow notation and just bravely work through a bunch of examples with things such as electronegativity in mind so that you can imagine where the electrons are likely to attack. For instance, Grignards and LAH have very similar reaction mechanisms: |dw:1444283945926:dw| Another key thing to note is that pi-bonds are weaker and easier to break compared to sigma bonds, so you'll end up breaking pi bonds a lot. Grignard reaction: |dw:1444284048973:dw| LAH reaction: |dw:1444284095503:dw| And in both you usually follow up with an acid to protonate the alcohol group. So ok waste some paper, do a lot of exercises, but resources are what you want right? I think you should really try this guy's site out: http://www.masterorganicchemistry.com/blog/?_ga=1.244457733.1687345216.1437252244 He's got a lotta good stuff, I've tutored Ochem every week for about 3 years so I'm pretty good and bored so I come here if you have more specific questions but I don't really have much else to offer in terms of websites. I think buying his reagent guide is a good idea, it's definitely worth it, lots of good mechanisms.
