A dish is given to you, which contains a blackish-yellow powder. When you move a magnet over it, you are amazed to see black particles, (which you find out are iron) fly upwards and get stuck to the magnet, and all that's left in the dish is a yellow powder, which you discover to be sulfur. Was your original powder and element, compound or mixture? Element Compound Mixture
A mixture is a physical combination of elements or compunds where the parts of the mixture are not chemically bonded and so retain their own identity. These elements and compounds can be separated by physical means. There are two different types of mixtures, homogeneous and heterogeneous. In heterogeneous mixtures, you can see the two different types of substances with your eye. In homogeneous mixtures, you cannot see the two different substances (they appear as a single phase to the eye).
it would be a mixture for when the magnet goes over the powder it is the iron that is lifted and not the sulfur so the different parts of it can be separated by any physical means that allows the parts to seen ate individual particles
