Sulfur dioxide gas will form when nitric acid is added to? I have CaSO so far but don't know how many of oxygen I would need.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So far I guessed as such but really unsure if this would make seance. HNO3 + CaSO4 ----> SO2+CaNO3+ H20

OpenStudy (aaronq):

that's a random question .. maybe sulfur?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My questions is how much sulfer in CaSO do I need is it 4 like I wrote out in the equation I have or is it 3?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

to be honest, you cant just know from the number of of atoms in the formula. it has to do with oxidation states and molecular structure.
