since it has 3 zero's then we would quite happily assume it is a cubic polynomial

y=a(x+1)(x-1)(x-3) then we know the y-intercept occurs at (0,3) so substitute that into the equation

solve for a, and you should be right. 3=a(1)(-1)(-3)

clearly a=1 so your function is just y=(x+1)(x-1)(x-3)

i would probably leave it as f(x)=(x+1)(x-1)(x-3) so it tell her you know that for this case, the zero's make up the cubic polynomial
