OpenStudy (anonymous):

which particle of an atom has the least mass? proton, nucleus, neutron, electron?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

HELLO WELCOME TO OPEN STUDY !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Proton

OpenStudy (anonymous):

proton The neutron also is located in the atomic nucleus (except in Hydrogen). The neutron has no charge, and a mass of slightly over 1 amu. Some scientists propose the neutron is made up of a proton and electron-like particle. Hope this helped :)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

The answer would be electrons

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Because we know the mass of a proton is 1.007 amu mass of neutron = 1.008 amu And electron is 5.45 * 10^-4 amu Nucleus is made up of protons and neutrons so anyways that's out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what you said about neutrons being made of proton and electron like things isn't strictly true, it's made of quarks, as protons, whereas electrons are leptons, completely different particles
