My head will explode, Help plz !!!!!! a container is filled with brine. container has the shape of a vertical cylinder of radius 5cm and 10cm height. salt is unevenly distributed as salt concentration near the base is greater than it is near the surface. the distance x cm from the bottom is the salt concentration C (X) = 10 / (x + 5) determine the total amount of salt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there anymore info?

OpenStudy (baru):

do you know calculus, integration?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically\[785.4-\frac{ 10 }{ (x+5) }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for x and boom! ur answer

OpenStudy (baru):

lets call the total amount of salt upto height 'x' as S(x) we know that concentration of salt X volume= amount of salt, i.e dS=C(x)dV we know that \[V=\pi r^2x\\so\\dV=\pi r^2 dx\]

OpenStudy (baru):

substitute \[dS= c(x) \pi r^2 dx\]

OpenStudy (baru):

integrate from x=0 to x=10 to get answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain more plz :)

OpenStudy (baru):

do you understand what salt concentration means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No i do not

OpenStudy (baru):

ok. what does this give: (mass of salt)/(volume of water)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i'm confused, which equation I have to integrate x=0 to x=10 to get answer

OpenStudy (baru):

the equation right above the post saying integrate x=0.......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (baru):

u hav to substitute C(x) and r

OpenStudy (nuccioreggie):

x=0
