solve the system using the substitution method

OpenStudy (zpupster):

\[2y-x=5\] \[x^2 + y^2 -25=0\]

OpenStudy (zpupster):

in the first equation subtract 2y from both sides then multiply whold equation by -1 x=2y-5 we know x so plug that in for x in 2nd equation (2y-5)^2 + y^2 -25=0 (4y^2 - 20y +25) + y^2 -25=0 combine like terms 5y^2-20y=0 y(5y-20) = 0 divide both sides by y and add 20 to both sides 5y=20 divide both sides by 5 y=? plug back in y into both equations to find x

OpenStudy (zpupster):

then let x = 0 add 25 both sides y^2 =25 take sqaure root both sides you can do the same let y = 0

beautiful, thank you very much
