1s - 2 electrons, 2s - 2 electrons, 2p - 6 electrons, 3s - 2 electrons, 3p - 6 electrons, 4s - 2 electrons and 3d - 5 electrons (one in each orbital).
The value of (n+l) for the 3d subshell is 5 while for the 4s subshell, it will be 4. Because the 4s subshell has a lower energy than the 3d subshell, electrons will occupy the 4s subshell before they occupy the 3d subshell.
