Which term describes the energy state or electron configuration of an atom? A. Ionization energy (Maybe? or no I don't think so) B. Quantum Numbers (I think this may be correct) C. Ground State (Eliminated) D. Electron Affinity (My Choice)

I chose D because the electron affinity is energy that is released when electrons are added... so no it's not D...

It can't be A either because ionization energy is energy that when added to an atom removes valence electrons so they're both distractors..

According to the University of California, Davis, electron affinity is defined, "...the change in energy (in kJ/mole) of a neutral atom (in the gaseous phase) when an electron is added to the atom to form a negative ion. In other words, the neutral atom's likelihood of gaining an electron." When we start to learn about electron configurations and the electron ground state, we generally use quantum numbers to describe them. This can be defined as, "A number that occurs in the theoretical expression for the value of some quantized property of a subatomic particle, atom, or molecule and can only have certain integral or half-integral values."

Quantum numbers determine the energy level, shape, orientation, of your orbitals etc.. So definitely B
