The post gives you exactly the equation you need to solve this question. The idea here is that whatever heat is lost by the metal is gained by the water, so if you subtract one from the other you get 0. For this particular question though, you just need to find the total heat, so you just need to calculate the heat lost by the metal OR the heat gained by the water. You can calculate either with the information provided in the question provided you know the specific heat capacity.
