methane has a molar mass of 16.04 grams/mol. If this compound were volatilized in a 155 mL flask, in a water bath at 98.5C, and in a room with a pressure of 700 torr, how many grams of condensed liquid would result?

OpenStudy (matt101):

You want to find mass. The question gives you pressure, volume, and temperature, so PV=nRT is looking good but it doesn't look like mass fits in there anywhere. Actually, it does! Remember, moles = mass / molar mass, so you can rewrite the equation as PV=(m/MM)RT. The question gives you molar mass, so you can now use everything to calculate mass. Make sure you're using the appropriate units!

awesome thank you!
