OpenStudy (pandateddygirl):

Fe2O3 + 3 CO → Fe + 3 CO2 Which element(s) are not balanced in this equation? I will give medal and fan! Help!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is oxidation number of Fe on the left? and the oxidation number of Fe on the right?

OpenStudy (jebonna):

There are 2 Fe atoms on the left, and 1 Fe atom on the right There are 6 O atoms on the left, and 6 O atoms on the right There are 3 C atoms on the left, and 3 C atoms on the right If you do this, you can see what elements are not balanced and what you might need to add. Therefore, Fe is the element that is not balanced. To balance it you would need to put a '2' in front of the Fe on the right.
