Two nonmetals from Group 16 are likely to form a(n) A. triple iconic bond. B. Double iconic bond C. triple and convalent bond D. double and Covalent bond Is the answer C?
I think you're right because they all have 6 electrons in their outer shells so if they make 3 triple bonds all the electrons will be used so there will be no lone pairs, plus its definitely covalent as it is two non metals.
Thank you @jebonna
Its alright but get a second opinion as im not 100% sure
I think its D actually because oxygen forms a double bond with itself and as they all have 6 electrons in its outer shell, it would need only 2 more to get a full outer shell (or noble gas structure). To do that it would form a double bond with another element from the same group where each of them would get 2 more electrons each :)
