OpenStudy (realsiege):

how do you name ionic compounds w/ 3 chemicals?

OpenStudy (realsiege):

like aluminium + bromine + oxygen? i answered 'aluminium bromide oxide' but that sounds wrong imo

OpenStudy (jebonna):

With ionic compounds that have oxygen in them, you always know the ending will be 'ate'. It would end with 'ide' if there was NO oxygen in the compound. You first take the name of the metal. In this case it is Aluminium. You then take the non-metal and you only take the beginning of it. In this case it is Bromide, so we will take: Brom- Then to that, we will add the correct ending for this compound. As it has oxygen in it, it will end with 'ate'. So to put all of this together, we will come out with this: 'Aluminium bromate' I hope this helps!
