OpenStudy (yung_deakin):

What volume of a 6.0 M HCl solution is required to make 250.0 milliliters of a 1.5 M HCl? 0.38 liters 0.063 liters 0.25 liters 1.0 liters 1.5 liters

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m1v1=m2v2 ie (starting Molarity)x(starting Volume) = (final Molarity)x(final Volume) rearrange algebraically to solve for the necessary variable, in this case they are asking you for the starting volume. Note, you are given a volume in mL, so you will have to convert it either in the beginning or at the end to Liters to get the correct answer.
