I need help in Transformations II help!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

legendarynikki A triangle with vertices at (1, 2), (–1, –6) and (7, –2) is translated five units to the left and 7 units upward. The coordinates of the translated triangle are: Select one: a. (6, 9), (4, 1) and (12, 5) b. (–4, –5), (–6, –13) and (2, –9) c. (6, –5), (4, –13) and (12, –9) d. (–4, 9), (–6, 1) and (2, 5) A convex polygon which has rotational symmetry of 180° must have which characteristic? Select one: a. At least one line of symmetry b. All side lengths equal c. An even number of sides d. All angles equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think 2 is C

OpenStudy (welshfella):

For each coordinate is hanged as follows x ---> x -5 and y-----> y + 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay??

OpenStudy (welshfella):

* changed ( question A)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont get it

OpenStudy (welshfella):

(x , y) changes to (x-5, y+7)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so for instance the point (0,5) is transformed to (5,12)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um okay

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so in QUestion A what is the point (1,2) transformed to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know

OpenStudy (welshfella):

sorry i made a mistake (0,5) becomes (0-5, 5+7) = (-5,12)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

(1, 2)-- > ( 1-5, 2 + 7) = (-4, 9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6,1

OpenStudy (welshfella):

what point is that (-6,1)???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im trying to figure this out but it makes no sense to me

OpenStudy (welshfella):

OK we have one of the vertices (1,2) in question 1 a move of 5 to the left transforms the x value (1) to 1 - 5 = -4 Moving to the left is negative movement OK?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (welshfella):

A movement up or down changes the value of the y coordinate so the 2 in (1,2) becomes 2 + 7 = 9 ( that is a move of 7 units up the graph)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

so ( 1 , 2) becomes (-4 , 9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay

OpenStudy (welshfella):

So if you look at the options in question A you'll see which one is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is my second question right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A convex polygon which has rotational symmetry of 180° must have which characteristic? Select one: a. At least one line of symmetry b. All side lengths equal c. An even number of sides d. All angles equal i put C

OpenStudy (welshfella):

to be honest I'm not sure about that one.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

a rectangle has rotational symmetry of 180 so I think C is right.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yea i'm pretty sure about that. Not 100% though..

OpenStudy (welshfella):

thats the best i can do with that one.
