Are you familiar with the distance formula? d = distance = (rate) * (time). Here your distance is 30 mi. Again, distance = rate * time. Given that Al rides at the constant rate of 12 mi/hr, how far will he have ridden after t hours? Answer a similar question for Ann. The sum of the distances that Al and Ann ride during time t is ... ?
