I need help. https://41.media.tumblr.com/1c5b37c0843f7e2bead1d18ed59e2a09/tumblr_ny53t48ypd1u97y0go1_1280.png

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Step 1) Identify the corner points of the feasible region Step 2) plug each point, one at a time, into the objective function Step 3) The smallest output in step 2 is the min value of z

OpenStudy (daggiemib):

(0,8) (0,6) (8,8) (4,4)

OpenStudy (daggiemib):

y=6x-1/2z

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I think you mean `z = 3x - (1/2)y` right?

OpenStudy (daggiemib):

i tried rearranging it

OpenStudy (daggiemib):

im seeing it will be easier to keep it the same tho

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm not sure what you mean. But let's say we plugged in the point (0,8) so x = 0 and y = 8 z = 3x - (1/2)y z = 3*0 - (1/2)*8 z = 0 - 4 z = -4 if the input is (x,y) = (0,8) then the output is z = -4 Do the same for the other corner points you listed. Tell me what outputs you get (and the corresponding inputs)

OpenStudy (daggiemib):

yeah i just was writing it differently but i got -4 too yay and i understand so thank you!!!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome
