OpenStudy (anonymous):

What group is Hydrogen in since it isn't in group 1?

OpenStudy (jebonna):

It is in group one, because it has 1 electron in its outer shell. Groups basically determine how many electrons are on an elements outer shell. E.g. Calcium is in group 2, meaning it has 2 electrons in its outer shell.

OpenStudy (photon336):

Well, the reason why it's in group one is because it has one electron in it's 1s orbital, that's technically it's outermost shell.
