OpenStudy (navian):

I want to prepare a 250ml of buffer solution CH3COOH/CH3COONa. I have 500ml of acetic acid 16,4N and 450g of sodium acetate.

OpenStudy (navian):

From that I want to determine the amounts required of both reagents so both have the same molar concentratrion of 0.1M

OpenStudy (tatianagomezb):

given the global reaction you should calculate the molar masses of each reactant, and according to the stoichiometry figure just how much from your original solution or solid you need to use to get 0,1 mol, once you do that it's all math. Come back if you're still lost.

OpenStudy (navian):

Don't I have to use this? m = N x molar mass x Vol / thetha

OpenStudy (tatianagomezb):

I would say yes. You're calculating how many moles of substance are contained in said volume, and from that you can calculate what volume 0,1 mole of substance occupies.
